Venerable Chuan Hou

Vice-Rector for Monastic Training and Administration, Full-time

Venerable Chuan Hou was born in Fujian Province, China, and has been influenced by Buddhism since young. After his ordination, he attended the Buddhist College of Min Dong in Fujian, followed by the Buddhist Academy of China in Beijing. Thereafter, he studied at the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies at University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, from 2005 to 2007.

In 2007, at the invitation of the Buddhist College of Singapore, he was appointed to assist in academic-related matters. He is currently the Vice-Rector of BCS, overseeing Monastic Training, Administration Offices and Nuns’ Campus.

惟省法师

Venerable Wei Xing

Class Mentor, Full-time

Venerable Wei Xing was born in Jiangsu, China. He was ordained as a monk in Huazang Temple, Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province in 2006. He studied and graduated from Suzhou Hanshan Temple Hanshan Academy (2007-2009) and received higher ordination at the Da Pu Ti Temple in Jixian County, Heilongjiang Province in 2009. After he graduated from the Buddhist College of Singapore (BCS, 2009-2014), he worked as a Monastic Manager and Labor Steward in Fahua Temple. In 2016, he was awarded a BCS Scholarship to read his Master’s Degree at the University of Hong Kong's Buddhist Studies Centre. Upon graduation, he joined BCS as a Class Mentor in August 2018.

耀晨法师

Venerable Yao Chen 

Class Mentor, Full-time

Venerable Yao Chen was born in Yiyang, Hunan, China, from a Buddhist family. In 2006, he was ordained at Yunmen Temple in Shaoguan and studied at Yunmen Temple Buddhist College.

After receiving full ordination at Yunmen Temple in Guangdong in 2008, he pursued undergraduate and master's degrees at the Buddhist College of Singapore. Following graduation, he served as the supervisor for meditation classes at Yunmen Buddhist College and furthered his studies in temples across Hong Kong, Fujian, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shanghai, among other places. In August 2023, he joined the Buddhist College of Singapore.

究林法师

Venerable Jiu Lin

Head of Monastic Training, Full-time 

Venerable Jiu Lin was born in Hubei province, China. An introvert since young, he felt great reverence for the Buddha and was ordained in 2006 at Baotou Guanyin Temple, Inner Mongolia. He received his higher ordination under Venerable Huan Jie the following year at Mount Wutai’s Bi Shan Temple. Between 2011 and 2017, he completed his Foundation and undergraduate courses at the Buddhist College of Minnan in Xiamen Nanputuo Temple. He joined the Buddhist College of Singapore in August 2019 as a Class Mentor.

合清法师

Venerable He Qing

Class Mentor, Full-time

Venerable He Qing was born to a Buddhist family in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, China. Being a traditional, reserved child, he was deeply influenced by Buddhism. As serendipity would have it, he was ordained at Zhenru Monastery, Jiangxi Province in the autumn of 2006. He received higher ordination under Venerable Yi Cheng the following year at Zhenru Monastery.

From 2008 to 2012, Venerable He Qing studied religious discipline under Venerable Jie Quan at Pingxing Monastery, Fujian Province. Subsequently in 2016, he completed post-graduate courses at the Buddhist College of Tiantai. Between 2017 to 2018, he learned English at ESL College, Canada. In 2019, Venerable He Qing worked as a secretary in Zhenru Monastery. He joined BCS as a Class Mentor in March 2021.
