Visit by Staff of the Studies in Inter-Religious Relations in Plural Societies Programme

On 9 July 2015, BCS welcomed the staff of the Studies in Inter-Religious Relations in Plural Societies Programme (SRP) of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) of Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Led by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Venerable Dr. Chuan Sheng, a team comprising Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs Office Dr. Ji Yun, Assistant Professor Venerable Dr. Chang Qing, Senior Lecturer Mr. John Song Choo Beng, and Administrative Executive Johnsen Low Junsheng hosted the guests in the VIP Conference Room. The guests included Head of Studies of SRP Ambassador Mohammad Alami Musa, Principal Coordinator Dr. Rozlan Giri, Associate Professor Dr. Paul Hedges, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohamed Bin Ali, Research Fellow Dr. Tony See, and Administrative Manager Ms. Ng Suat Peng.

Ambassador Alami highlighted that the main objective of SRP is to promote religious understanding and relations in plural societies. By proposing a MSc course in the study of inter-religious relations and understanding, RSIS hopes that graduates will spearhead the movement in promoting inter-religious harmony in multi-cultural and multi-religious societies. SRP will also be introducing a 5-day Executive Programme to provide foundational knowledge on the roles of religion in society, peace-building and conflict resolution. In addition, Ambassador Alami expressed interest in exploring future collaboration and exchange opportunities between SRP and BCS.
