The Buddhist College of Singapore (BCS) is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of Sangha members — who will preserve, practise, and share the Dharma in a rapidly changing world. Located within the serene grounds of Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery, BCS provides a holistic education in Buddhist Studies, equipping student monks with both academic knowledge and spiritual training to serve the community with wisdom and compassion.
About the Buddhist College of Singapore
Established in 2005 under the leadership of Venerable Kwang Sheng, BCS offers a comprehensive education in Buddhist studies through its 4-year Bachelor’s and 2-year Master’s programmes, available in both English and Mandarin. The curriculum integrates academic study with monastic training, ensuring that students not only gain intellectual understanding but also cultivate discipline, humility, and selfless service — qualities essential for a life dedicated to the Dharma.
BCS collaborates with Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, a public university in Thailand renowned for Buddhist education, enhancing global recognition of its qualifications. The college, equipped with classrooms, lecturers’ rooms, a library, computer room, meditation room, accommodation and sports facilities, provides a conducive space for study, reflection and spiritual practice.

Typically, funding a student monk cost $40,000 (BA Programme) and $20,000 (MA Programme) to KMSPKS. While BCS provides education free of charge, the continued support of kind benefactors is essential in sustaining the programmes. Your sponsorship helps defray the costs of providing formal Dharma education, daily necessities and monastic training for BCS student monks, ensuring that each year’s cohort receives quality education, spiritual guidance and the support they need to uphold the Buddha’s teachings. Your sponsorship will help cover education and living expenses, including but not limited to tuition fees, food, clothing, accommodation, medical care and insurance, textbooks and study materials, and visa fees and airfares for international students.

Since its inception, BCS has nurtured more than 200 MA and BA graduates. Some BCS students continued their postgraduate education in institutions in Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Australia and the USA, in such fields as Buddhist Studies, Applied Buddhism, Buddhist Counselling, Buddhist Chaplaincy, and Religious Studies. Other BCS students returned to their countries or travelled to other parts of the world to teach at Buddhist schools and temples, or assume leadership roles in Buddhist communities. Your sponsorship helps provide aspiring monastics with the education and training they need to share the Dharma.
