On 14 July 2018, the Most Venerable Chun Yi, Vice-President of the Buddhist Association of China, President of the Buddhist Association of Jiang Xi Province and Abbot of Nan Chang You Min Monastery, led an entourage of 15 delegates on a visit to the Buddhist College of Singapore. They were warmly received by the Rector, the Most Venerable Kwang Sheng, the Vice-Rector, Venerable Chuan Xiong and Head of Monastic Training, Venerable Chuan Kong.
The Most Venerable Chun Yi marveled at the scale of BCS’ operations and its bilingual teaching pedagogy. He expressed that this teaching methodology plays an important role in developing talents for Chinese Mahayana Buddhism, to prepare them for international dialogues in Buddhism on the global stage. At this, the Most Venerable Kwang Sheng offered his sincere gratitude and explained that it is the duty of BCS to cultivate Buddhist talents. It is precisely for the promulgation of Chinese Mahayana Buddhism that BCS opted for a bilingual teaching system. The dialogue ended amidst a joyous backdrop, with both delegations exchanging gifts and sharing a group photo to commemorate the occasion.
