During the convocation, the Supreme Patriach of Thailand, Most Venerable Somdet Phra Ariyavaongsagatanana, conferred Bachelor, Master, PhD and Honorary PhD degrees to an estimated 4,000 graduates from around the world, including Sri Lanka, Korea and Taiwan.

The history of the spread of Buddhism from the East spanning over a thousand years can be likened to a magnificent art piece, illustrating the trials and tribulations of eminent monastics westbound to receive the Dharma, or coming east to spread the Buddha’s words; not to mention the countless eminent patriarchs holding noble aspirations, committing to ascetic practices, praying each step of the way up famous mountains in homage to the Buddha.

Professor Dr. Boonton Dockthaisong, Permanent Lecturer of International Programme, Faculty of Social Science of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (MCU) led a delegation of about 30 Venerables, lecturers, administrators and students on a study visit to the Buddhist College of Singapore (BCS).

Venerable Kwang Sheng reiterated that the mission of the College is to cultivate students to understand Dharma and be disciplined so that they could better serve their monasteries and Buddhism.

BCS will continue to optimize its advantages in locality and language, strengthen the interactions with Buddhist colleges in China, continue to groom monks to propagate dharma internationally, and contribute to the globalization of Chinese Buddhism.
