13 May 2018 was a joyous occasion for 11 students from the Buddhist College of Singapore (BCS) 2014 Chinese BA class as they attended the convocation ceremony at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (MCU) in Thailand, led by Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs Venerable Dr. Chuan Sheng and Class Mentor Venerable Chuan Li.
The Rector of MCU, Most Venerable Professor Dr. Phra Brahmapundit, warmly hosted the students and presented each student with a welcome gift. During the convocation, the Supreme Patriach of Thailand, Most Venerable Somdet Phra Ariyavaongsagatanana, conferred Bachelor, Master, PhD and Honorary PhD degrees to an estimated 4,000 graduates from around the world, including Sri Lanka, Korea and Taiwan. This grand ceremony was graced by approximately 10,000 monks and laypeople. After the ceremony ended, as the Sangharaja was leaving the convocation hall, he specially stopped by and congratulated the students of BCS on their achievements. Amidst the celebratory backdrop, the ceremony concluded with a group photo-taking session of the graduates.
