BCS 2018 Student Recruitment Exercise Held in Singapore, China, Sri Lanka and Cambodia

Between 29 May and 6 June 2018, the Buddhist College of Singapore (BCS) 2018 Student Recruitment Entrance Examinations were held at BCS, Buddhist College of Minnan in China, Sri Lanka and Cambodia.

The venue for the examinations in China was the Buddhist College of Minnan, in Xiamen, China. Venerable Yuan Ci, Director of Academic Department of the Buddhist Association of China supervised the recruitment exercise. Venerable Chuan Xiong, Vice-Rector (Academic Affairs and Dean) of BCS led a team of four members to administer the Chinese BA examinations and interviews for around 30 applicants. The examination was strongly supported by the Abbot of Nanputuo Temple and Rector of the Buddhist College of Minnan, the Most Venerable Ze Wu. The joint efforts of Venerable Jie Song (Director of Admin Office), Venerable Ti Jie (Deputy Head of Monastic Training) and the staff of the Buddhist College of Minnan ensured the success of the recruitment exercise.

The entrance examinations for South Asian and Southeast Asian applicants were held at BCS, Sri Lanka and Cambodia. Venerable Dr. Chuan Sheng (Vice-Rector, Academic Affairs and Advisor), Venerable Quan Zhi (Head of Administration), Venerable Chuan Hang (Lecturer) and the staff of BCS were involved in the recruitment. Approximately 60 applicants from Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Bhutan sat for the examinations and interview.

Students who are selected in the 2018 recruitment exercise will be either enrolled into the four-year Chinese or six-year English programme. Upon successful completion of the required credits, they will be awarded with a Bachelor of Arts degree by the Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, Thailand.
