Buddhist Cultural Visit Through the Maritime Silk Route A Cultural Tour

On 16 September 2015, a retinue of delegates led by Venerable Yao Zhi, Chairman of the Buddhist Association of Guangzhou and Abbot of Guangzhou’s Grand Buddha Monastery (Da Fo Si), were warmly welcomed by Venerable Kwang Sheng, Abbot of Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery and Rector of the Buddhist College of Singapore, during the first stop of their “Lotus Blossoms on the Road: Buddhist Cultural Visit Through the Maritime Silk Route” tour. Venerable Yao Zhi and Venerable Kwang Sheng discussed the spread of Buddhism through the Maritime Silk Route, as well as the development of Buddhism and Buddhist education in Singapore. Master Fang Jin Long, a renowned artiste, then staged an exquisite musical performance for Venerable Kwang Sheng and other Sangha members, after which cultural gifts were exchanged and group photos were taken to commemorate the visit. The delegates proceeded to tour the monastery and the new Buddhist College campus and enjoyed a sumptuous lunch prepared in their honour.
